Profile Karina Kambulova mezzo soprano

My passion for opera began at the age of 5 in Anapa, a small town in the south of Russia, where I began to sing classical opera. Encouraged by my teachers, I pursued a musical career and travelled to Moscow to study at the conservatories of Gnessin and Skrjabin.

I decided to further develop my musical skills and relocated to the south of the Netherlands, to the beautiful city of Maastricht. At the Zuyd Hogeschool Conservatory in Maastricht, I completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree with distinction, in solo opera singing, under the supervision of Axel Everaert and Susanne Schimack. During this time, I was also mentored by vocal coach Gemma Visser.

In recent masterclasses, I collaborated with stage director Matthias Kaiser, and Jard van Nes. Within the Festival Vocallis, our trio received an audience award for our performance of a Shostakovich Cycle. In 2019 I followed a Mastercalss of Marina Prudenskaya (Berlin) who is now my vocal coach. At the Brussel’s concourse Triumph de l’Art 2020, I had the honor of winning 3 prizes. I am determined to bring authenticity, spontaneity and passion to any repertoire I perform.
